The
Manichaeans
A Synthesis
of Buddhism, Zarathustrianism &
Gnostic Christianity
INTRO
The Manichaeans were a strong and viable Gnostic
religion begun by the great Elchasite prophet Mani. It was a third century
continuation of the older Essene Nazorean Elchasite current of ancient
Gnosticism. It grew rapidly for about a thousand years before finally succumbing
to fierce persecution. It contimued for a few more centuries in far eastern
lands before finally dissappearing as a recognizable entity. A few observations
and teachings to help put the Manichaean movement in perspective for some
western audiences:
* Mani, 216-276AD, claimed
to be the promised "Comforter" that Yeshu (Jesus) prophesied would come
after Him. (He was also considered the Buddhist Maitreya.)
* The unique gnostic and
Buddhist teachings of the Manichaeans represent true Christianity and true
Buddhism, as revealled by the third member of the Christian Godhead.
* The truest branch of
early Christianity flowed eastward, not westward, from the Gnostic Nazoreans,
through the Essene Elchasaites, to Vegan Manichaeans.
* Yeshu (Jesus) taught
His disciples, as did Mani, to be vegans even though the New Testament
does not always reflect this. Mani elaborated on these teachings considerably
and taught that Light is trapped in the Cross of Light (vegetation) should
not be needlessly harmed and can be redeemed by vegan offerings.
* The New Testament has
much truth but has been corrupted and many things added and taken away.
Mani rewrote it in a pure form and taught that the Jewish Old Testament
was full of darkness.
* Apostles of Light periodically
come to earth to teach the true truth. Adam, Seth, Enosh, Enoch, Shem,
Buddha, Zarathrustra, Jesus, Mani were all "Gnostic" prophets sent
from the light.
* Christ, and the other
Heavenly Powers, are both male and female and Their light filters into
our world through the dual portals of the Sun and the Moon. We return to
Them through these as well.
* One should withdraw from
worldliness and live a simple Manichaean like life growing vegetables and
worshipping Deity as taught by the Gnostic prophets.
